PURE OKLAHOMA WILDFLOWER HONEYCOMB This is honeycomb which comes straight out of the hive, unprocessed in any way. The floral sources are wildflowers near the Cimarron River by Mannford, OK. The honey comb is cut to fit a box, then kept cold to keep it at it's best. Honey in the comb is considered the best tasting and highest quality honey available. Beekeepers don't produce it as much as they used to, because bees have to work much harder to make it, since they have to construct the combs as well as fill them with honey. With extracted honey, the combs are reused over and over. This honeycomb is a real gourmet treat. My friend Gary, at www.gbreisch.com, has mentioned to me that some people don't know the best way to eat comb honey! To me, it is best on hot buttered toast.......you cut off a chunk, put it on the toast, and eat it comb and all. Deeeeeelicious! What I mean, honey doesn't get any better than that. You can also just chew a chunk alone, this way the wax is noticeable, so you can discard it like a piece of chewing gum.

FRESH-FROZEN WILDFLOWER POLLEN       This is Oklahoma wildflower pollen from Mannford, Oklahoma flowers. Usually it is many-colored, because each flower has a different colored pollen grain. I harvest it daily, and immediately put it into a freezer. This preserves it best. A FAR superior product to dried pollen. Dried pollen can be kept unrefrigerated for long periods, while undried pollen cannot. This is a very potent product. Fresh pollen contains incredibly high levels of many vitamins and nutrients. I sell it in half-pint jars, which contain about 4 ounces pollen. If you have pollen allergies, be aware that although pollen can be used as a cure, it must be used very carefully and in extremely small amounts at first. Consult your doctor or care provider.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF POLLEN.   IT IS AN EXTREMELY FINE POWDER WHOSE FUNCTION IS TO FERTILIZE FEMALE FLOWERS SO THAT THEY MAY PRODUCE SEEDS. EACH TYPE OF FLOWER PRODUCES MICROSCOPIC POLLEN GRAINS OF A SPECIFIC SIZE AND SHAPE. BEES MIX THE POLLEN POWDER WITH NECTAR TO MAKE IT STICK TOGETHER, AND FORM IT INTO SMALL PELLETS. THESE PELLETS ARE THEN CARRIED TO THE HIVE. POLLEN IS ESSENTIAL TO THE BEES FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, AND FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ROYAL JELLY. IT IS THE BEE'S ONLY SOURCE OF PROTEIN. IT TAKES ABOUT 500,000 TRIPS FOR BEES TO MAKE A POUND OF POLLEN, AND EACH TRIP VISITS HUNDREDS OF FLOWERS. THUS THE BEES VISIT MILLIONS OF FLOWERS TO GET A POUND. MANY ACRES OF FLOWER POLLEN ARE ESSENTIALLY CONCENTRATED INTO ONE SMALL SPOT, NAMELY THE BEEHIVE. I HOPE THIS EXPLAINS WHY POLLEN IS SUCH A CONCENTRATED SOURCE OF POLLEN AND VITAMINS, IN FACT THE MOST CONCENTRATED SOURCE OCCURRING IN A NATURAL STATE.

VITAMIN CONTENT  POLLEN IS AN INCREDIBLY RICH SOURCE OF VITAMINS. ALL THE B-VITAMINS ARE PRESENT, AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS. HERE IS A LIST OF A FEW OF THE VITAMINS FOUND IN LARGE AMOUNTS IN AN AVERAGE TEASPOON OF BEE POLLEN:

VITAMIN             U.S.R.D.A.           AVERAGE AMOUNT PER TEASPOON

VITAMIN B2            1.7 MG                       100 MG

NIACIN                 20 MG                        600 MG

PANTOTHENIC ACID   10 MG                        160 MG

VITAMIN B1            1.5 MG                       24 MG

VITAMIN C             60 MG                        1500MG (HIGHLY VARIABLE)

AS CAN BE SEEN FROM THIS DATA, ONE TEASPOON OF BEE POLLEN CONTAINS VERY LARGE AMOUNTS OF THESE VITAMINS. IT IS INTERESTING THAT POLLEN SUBSTITUTE MADE BY USING ARTIFICIAL VITAMINS  IS HARMFUL TO THE BEES AT THESE HIGH CONCENTRATIONS!

PROTEIN CONTENT    AN AVERAGE SAMPLE OF POLLEN CONTAINS ABOUT AS MUCH  PROTEIN AS MEAT, EGGS OR CHEESE. ON AVERAGE IT IS 25% PROTEIN AND 13% AMINO ACIDS.

TYPICAL USE AS A FOOD SUPPLEMENT     POLLEN ACTS AS A STIMULANT. ONE TEASPOON A DAY IS PLENTY, ALTHOUGH MUCH MORE CAN BE EATEN WITH NO ILL EFFECTS. LARGE AMOUNTS MAY CAUSE UNDESIRED STIMULATION, ESPECIALLY BEFORE BEDTIME. CAUTION: THOSE PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIC REACTIONS TO AIRBORNE POLLEN SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL USING IT. TO DESENSITIZE THE BODY (CURE POLLEN ALLERGIES) MANY CARE PROVIDERS RECOMMEND BEGINNING WITH ONE PELLET ONLY, AND DOUBLING THIS AMOUNT EACH DAY PROVIDED NO ILL EFFECTS ARE OBSERVED.

STORAGE  POLLEN LOSES MUCH OF ITS POTENCY WHEN DRIED OR STORED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. UNDRIED POLLEN MUST BE REFRIGERATED OR FROZEN TO PREVENT SPOILAGE.

PROPOLIS         Propolis is a natural antibiotic. It is made by honeybees using various products of trees, such as resins and saps. The bees "paint" every area of the inside of their hive with this, so that bacterial infections won't occur. They also use it to seal cracks before the cold weather, since propolis is soft when warm, but very hard and brittle when cool. You can buy raw propolis, which is in either chunk form or granular (depending how you like it), or as a tincture in food-grade ethyl alcohol. Please call or e-mail for orders, so you can specify exactly what you want.

ROYAL JELLY        Most people have heard of Royal Jelly. They may know that it is fed to bee eggs to make them turn into a queen rather than a worker bee. Royal Jelly is produced by the bees from nutrients such as pollen, and is extremely complex in composition, so complex that it has not been completely analysed. Our Royal Jelly is the freshest and most potent obtainable, not freeze-dried, just as it comes from the hive. Remember, one ounce equals about 200 capsules of 150 mg each, so don't be fooled!! An ounce is a LOT compared to what you get in capsules.

A quick google search of "Royal Jelly" will show you that incredible claims about how this substance will cure almost anything are all over the Web. If you are interested in it, you probably have read about it. I sell it in one ounce or four ounce containers, pure and unmixed with anything else. It is shipped cold (by putting a piece of dry ice in the packaging if necessary) to retain potency and stop spoilage. Pure Royal Jelly should be kept cold if not used fairly quickly.

BEESWAX       Everybody has heard of this. Actually beeswax is a complex substance, and unlike most waxes is only 14% hydrocarbons. About 6% of the substances in it are unidentified. It is produced when bees eat honey or nectar, which is metabolized in their bodies; they then secrete little flakes of beeswax, which they build their homes with!  Beeswax produces the finest candles money can buy, because they burn with very little soot and a clear bright flame. When I was younger I was told that the Catholic Church only used beeswax candles because they were produced by virgins (worker bees are all female virgins). I used to believe this, but I was pretty naive then. I can supply beeswax in different quantities, but the item I sell on the "products" link is a small cake of it, about one ounce in weight. It is great for those who sew, and for mixing with hot olive oil to form a skin cream. Recipe on request.

BEES AND BEEHIVES      Are you interested in Nature? Would you like a new hobby? Want to produce your own Beehive products, rather than buy them? Well, I have the answer for you. KEEP BEES!  Yes, you can buy your own hive of bees, and keep them right in town (in most cities there is no ordinance against this--check your town). It is a fascinating hobby. People roll their eyes and think "oh sure, it would be so much fun to get the fire stung out of me!" Not so. It is possible to keep bees and get stung rarely if at all. I can't honestly say you won't get stung if you keep bees, but it is not a regular occurence if you are careful. I don't get stung very often, have dozens of hives, and only wear a veil. Sometimes not even that. I have pretty gentle bees. For the most part they are Italian, but I raise my own queens so they are mixed. If you are truly interested, call me at 918-850-3820. I will be glad to help you get started. Prices for a hive of bees vary, depending on the hive and time of year.
